[All zones]: Emergency maintenance window
Scheduled Maintenance Report for UpCloud
Completed
We have finished updating the cloud infrastructure with the newest available firmware (including BIOS) and software stack (including KPTI patched kernels) in all the zones (SG-SIN1, NL-AMS1, UK-LON1, US-CHI1, DE-FRA1 and FI-HEL1) to protect against the Meltdown vulnerability. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.

Update
Most of the emergency infrastructure updates are now complete. We estimate that over 95% of customer servers did not experience any notable disturbances due to updates.

There was an unexpected compute node hardware issue in FI-HEL1 on Saturday evening UTC which caused few servers getting stuck after which they were restarted. We apologize the inconvenience.

All remaining Windows servers in FI-HEL1 that have not yet been restarted will be rebooted within next few hours. For the rest of the zones we do not anticipate any further disruptions.

Update
The following zones are now completely updated :
SG-SIN1, NL-AMS1, UK-LON1 and US-CHI1

In the remaining zones we still continue updates on some parts of the infrastructure.

DE-FRA1 - Hardware problem has been fixed.

All zones are fully operational. Some controlled server restarts and occasional short network breaks are still possible over the weekend.

Update
The following zones are now completely updated :
SG-SIN1, NL-AMS1 and US-CHI1 (besides of a handful of Windows servers which will be restarted soon).

In the remaining zones we still continue updates on some parts of the infrastructure. During updates in DE-FRA1 we unfortunatelly encountered some hardware problems which caused unexpected reboots to some customer servers and temporary restricted our capacity. We are working to restore this zone also fully operational as soon as possible. In other zones controlled server restarts and occasional short network breaks are still possible over the weekend.

Update
A large part of our compute infrastructure has been updated to protect against the MeltDown vulnerability. Some parts still require further maintenance and we will continue working around the clock. Distruptive actions will be done outside business hours.

If you encounter any problems with of your servers please first try to shut them down completely and start again. Our Support will gladly provide further help if needed.

Scheduled
We will be opening up an emergency maintenance window affecting all regions from January 4th, 2018 22:00 UTC until further notice as reported in our blog post earlier. We will keep this status incident open and updated as we proceed.

Customers can expect to have their cloud servers shutdown and restarted or migrated, whichever approach is more suitable at that specific time. Both approaches can result in a temporary loss of network connectivity. We will do our best to minimise customer impact during business hours, but as this is a critical procedure, we want to update our infrastructure completely as fast as possible.

Please subscribe to this update or our status page for additional information on our progress.
