Live Migration of SG-SIN1 data centre
Scheduled Maintenance Report for UpCloud
Completed
Dear Customer,

We are happy to report that the migration of SG-SIN1 data centre has been completed. We are still optimizing infrastructure side parts, but everything should work now as well as previously before the migration started.

Thank you for your patience.

Dear Customer,

We are happy to report that connections are finally normalized. We are still finalizing the network migration, but we don’t expect any more disruptions to raise their head. If you still experience any issues please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Support.

Update
Dear Customer,

the migration of internet connections under the new data center is in progress. Unfortunately, we are facing some unexpected problems and connectivity to some external providers might currently be suboptimal. We are working to restore the normal connections as soon as possible.

Update
Dear Customer,

we are proud to announce that we have completed the most significant task of the migration project. All of our customers cloud servers have been moved from old data center provider to Equinix SG5 data center.

In the coming weeks we will be moving our internal hardware, and towards the end of the month also the network connectivity. Currently, our schedule to transfer the connectivity from old Data Center to Equinix is on the 25th of January. During the transfer, we are expecting to see only non-optimal routing for a couple of hours, but transfer will otherwise be non-disruptive. After this, the whole migration project is completely done.

If there are any changes to the schedule we'll be posting them as soon as possible.

Feel free to contact us via 24/7 chat in the Hub or email to support@upcloud.com should you have any questions or need of assistance.

Update
Dear Customer,

we are happy to announce that we are way over halfway through the migration project just before the holidays, so our schedule to finalize the project by end of January is still going to happen. For a vast majority of the cloud servers the migration has been completely invisible and has not resulted in anything more than a few seconds loss of network connectivity. However there were few isolated cases where we had to apply a controlled restart for cloud server due to unforseen circumstances and we apologize for the inconvenience caused.

If your cloud server still experiences any issues please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Support.

Scheduled
Dear Customer,

We're about to commence a live migration of our SG-SIN1 availability zone to a new data centre in Singapore. We're required to undertake this rather unusual task, since there is no possibility to expand our business in Singapore any further with our current data centre provider. The new data centre operator will allow us to grow our rack space footprint immensely, while providing us overall improved service quality, security and connectivity options. We will be moving all of our customers to Equinix's flag-ship SG5 data centre in Singapore.

The migration will begin on Monday, December 5, 2022 with expected completion latest by January 31, 2023. During the migration, your cloud server may lose network connectivity for a brief moment (15-300 seconds) and you might see slightly degraded performance with storage speed while your server is being migrated. During the migration of the physical block storage backup servers, you might not be able to access some of the backups, so restoring will be interrupted for not longer than a few hours. The migration will not cause any data loss or any other loss of service.

As the schedule is rolling, we cannot estimate when a specific cloud server will be migrated or when the migration is entirely completed, but we will update this status page whenever we have any news to share. Feel free to contact via 24/7 chat in the Hub or email to support@upcloud.com should you have any questions or need of assistance.

The live migration will be conducted in the same manner as we have done previously in some of our other availability zones. The process has proven to be reliable, stable and unobtrusive and we're confident that the migration won't cause any significant changes to the normal level of our operation.
